MBCA Meeting Minutes – 2 November 2010

The regular meeting of the Manhattan Beach Civic Association was not held on Tuesday 2 November 2010, as a quorum was NOT present at the meeting.

Secretary's Report – There was no Secretary’s report.

Treasurer's Report – There was no Treasurer’s report:

A brief discussion was held with the ten members present.


Old Business -
Mike – Frye – The pier extension was pushed back 4 months. We withdrew permit. We need to meet with Magothy Marina as the pier property is on an easement that belongs to Magothy Marina. We need to get the property lines surveyed. The boating pier is not just recreational since we launch boats. The Marina is calling in a survey company.

The Budget meeting is in December and Mike will email all members to remind them.


Mandrin –per Mark Sheid - is building 29 homes. The agreement between Mandrin and MBCA states that they will pay $4500 per unit due ten days after settlement. If payment is more than 15 days late, they owe MBCA 10%. There is no clause in the agreement that says the Villas have been annexed to MBCA. The 20 Villas and 9 Enclaves are not part of MBCA. However, Article III – B says that Proof of membership shall be in the form of a current tax statement. Our tax bill does not include the Villas.
There is concern that the Villas and Enclave have been advertised as water privledged.

Kate will ask for an electronic file for mailing labels.

Roads – Did we get on the county list for road paving? Mike will ask Rick since he was going to address this at the GSPA meeting.

Don Woods also expressed concern about the need for more speed bumps. Luke Johnson asked about speed bumps on dividing. Mike asked Luke to look into it to see what we need to do.

Question from Pam Comts about what level the liability insurance is set at? Kate will check into that. Kate is also getting new quotes on liability insurance.
